Filsol are experts in the design, manufacture and installation of solar water heating and solar PV systems for social housing new build and refurbishment schemes. Since the mid 1990s, we have provided solar energy solutions to over 70 housing associations and RSLs throughout the UK.
All new build social housing developments are required to achieve not less than Level 3 of the Code for Sustainable Homes (meaning a 25% reduction in CO2 emissions). Filsol's solar water heating and PV systems can be an extremely effective and low-cost way of reducing carbon emissions and helping to achieve Code Level targets without imposing significant design constraints and increased costs on the overall build.
Our systems are entirely flexible and have previously been installed to operate alongside other microgeneration technologies such as ground and air source heat pumps, biomass boilers, and CHP systems in order to meet higher CO2 reduction targets.
Solar water heating and PV systems also offer an excellent solution for retrofit into older properties. Causing minimal disruption to the existing infrastructure, installations can be done as part of a wider refurbishment programme, such as Decent Homes or Welsh Housing Quality Standard (WHQS), and even when properties are under occupancy. We are experienced in delivering large-scale 'whole house' energy package refurbishment contracts which include the installation of solar energy systems into existing dwellings along with high efficiency boilers and other energy saving measures.
In addition to our standard warranties, we offer a comprehensive aftercare support package to our social housing partners. This includes training support to enable maintenance teams to conduct annual checks, fault diagnosis and routine maintenance tasks.
